Position: Senior Field Service/Applications Engineer

The Client
The Client has since 1986 grown into the leader in the development, manufacture and supply of high-performance image acquisition and analysis systems for the life science industries. The company's products play a key role in providing quantifiable data and meaningful information needed to advance technology and realize important scientific discoveries.
The company employs approximately 180 engineers, technicians, managers and sales and marketing professionals at its Seattle-based headquarters, as well as in its sales and service centers throughout Europe and Asia. Call centers are located in Marlborough, one hour west of London, England and in Hsin-Chu City, Taiwan.
Role
The Client already works with 4-5 distributors across all of the extended Europe. Each of these distributors has appointed a sales person focused on the Client’s product range. In addition to the sales contact covering all of German Speaking Area, the Client now searches for a professional that performs complex field service and related application activities for high end imaging systems for the Life Sciences Research markets.
The position will require about 50% travel outside of the home office (primarily within Germany but some international travel). The Candidate provides technical training for distributors and end users. He / she analyses, resolves and documents technical / applications issues encountered in the field ensuring customer satisfaction. He / she creates and maintains service calls records. He / she will maintain the Service Knowledge Database, originate spare parts and sales orders requests.
When working from the home office, the Candidate is expected to develop Service technical documentation, provide assistance to the Helpdesk Technical Service Engineer and handle hotline calls (phone & e-mail)
The Department Manager may ask for special projects and tasks.
Qualification:
- A four year engineering or bio-engineering degree is required. A PhD in the life sciences field would be a plus.
- In depth knowledge of complex electro-mechanical device diagnosis & repairs
- Must be fluent in English and German (oral and written)
- Working knowledge of Windows and Linux OS
- Very good understanding of computer hardware / networking
- Proficiency with MS Office software tools
- Minimum 5 years prior experience in Customer Service or related field

Ideal position for someone who likes working with Life Sciences researchers across Central Europe on what is true discovery. The Candidate is an integral part of the Client’s Global Life Science Field Service Team.
Given the global nature of the business, the Candidate must be a self-starter that can work with limited supervision and has had experience with imaging and / or microscopy. He / she would be in close contact with the sales contact for the German Speaking Area.
