Position: Business Development ADME / Tox - small molecules

Client:
A Munich based start-up company offers IT solutions for pharmaceutical and chemical companies to easily predict critical properties of chemicals or drugs of interest. Specifically, these properties describe physical and drug-like characteristics like absoption, distribution, metabolism, excretion and toxicity. These IT solutions, either custom made or off the shelf, shorten development cycles by making dozens of analyses redundant.
The Client has had significant success in validating its IT expertise in close cooperation with one major Europe based pharmaceutical company. These results serve as a critical reference when trying to disseminate the technology to further applications and accounts worldwide. Investors and Management are convinced that the Client’s IT expertise and solutions will soon be applied by many other drug and chemical companies across the globe.
Position:
The Client’s Management Team is made up of CEO, CSO and CFO. The Candidate shall focus on marketing strategy & communication, business development & sales. The ideal candidate would quickly grasp the essential customer benefits the Client could offer and then decide on strategies to communicate those, first in Europe, later in other large markets.
Tasks:
- Clearly define the customer benefits, the technology, the specific offer
- Propose and execute a marketing & sales strategy taking the Client’s product line and capabilities to pharmaceutical and chemical companies worldwide and to academia
- Such strategy may include direct sales, sales via agents and / or distributors, promotion via other channels
- Develop the business by meeting with potential accounts, assist in issuing quotes and trying to close deals
- Carefully monitor success
- Help adapting the overall strategy and specifically the Marketing & Sales strategy
Profile:
The ideal candidate should have a
- Masters Degree in Informatics / Computer Science or in one of the Life Sciences like Chemistry
- good grasp on early drug and compound discovery
- ideally, several years of experience in a pharmaceutical company in either Medicinal Chemistry or IT, respectively
- German language skills a nice to have
The Client’s Management Team and staff will strongly support the individual as his / her success is in everyone’s interest. However, as the company is young, the individual must be able to work and motivate itsself independently. Budget is being earmarked to have this individual supported by additional staff reporting to him / her.
Other Job Information:
Ideal position for someone who likes working with Life Sciences Research in academia and industry across key markets on what is true compound discovery. The role grants constant contact with senior levels in the customers’ organizations. Within, the Candidate is an integral part of the Client’s Management Team.
Given the global nature of the business and the age of the Client company, the Candidate must be a self-starter that can work with limited supervision.
Note: the Client is aware that the ‘ideal’ candidate meeting all requirements does not exist. Hence, past experience and success in some of the areas listed above presents a starting point for discussion.
